GFI Software Limited is set to announce a new initiative to aid small to medium sized business meet security needs at no cost.

"In an economic downturn, security spending is often the first victim of any cost-cutting exercise, however many businesses fail to realize that security and productivity are closely linked and the impact of one on the other is directly proportional. So, if anything, organizations need to at least maintain their previous levels of security", Scott Hagenus, GFI Asia Pacific Sales Manager said in Adelaide today.

"We view ourselves not only as a vendor but also - and equally importantly - as a business partner that understands our associates and customers and is actively doing something to help. With this in mind, and to tangibly convey to our customers that WE CARE, we have launched various initiatives to give small and medium businesses the opportunity to address security issues without increasing costs or spending hard dollars.

We will be announcing the availability of freeware versions of some of our top, award-winning products at CeBIT2009 Australia. Our first release is a Free 5-IP and fully functional version of GFI LANguard 9. We are also encouraging people to safeguard their data and we are giving home users GFI Backup 2009, a backup and recovery software solution, for FREE.

Why do this? Simple. We want to give something back to businesses as well as help them take their approach to security to a higher level. Businesses need to improve their security and think beyond viruses and spam. Our We Care initiative is aimed at helping these businesses – without any cost to them – to do more about security and better", Hagenus said.
