emt Distribution partners with BlackBerry to strengthen cybersecurity offering in Australia and New Zealand
Agreement gives more organisations and resellers access to BlackBerry’s AI-driven, prevention-first cybersecurity solutions and managed (XDR) services
Adelaide, Australia – 2 June 2022: Cybersecurity specialist, emt Distribution, a Crayon company, today announced a distribution agreement with BlackBerry Limited (NYSE: BB; TSX: BB) that will enable wider availability of BlackBerry® cybersecurity solutions and services for organisations and reseller partners in Australia and New Zealand.
The new partnership brings together emt’s extensive network of channel partners, MSPs and MSSPs and BlackBerry’s suite of intelligent, prevention-first cybersecurity solutions powered by Cylance® AI. Under the agreement, emt Distribution will offer the full BlackBerry® Cyber Suite including CylancePROTECT®, CylanceOPTICS® and CylanceGUARD®, a 24/7 managed Extended Detection and Response (XDR) service. emt’s technical engineers will be fully trained and certified by BlackBerry, enabling the distributor to deliver expert and specialised support in Australia and New Zealand.
In addition, CylanceGUARD’s XDR capability helps to address cyber-skills shortages faced by many organisations today. It offers access to trained threat prevention experts and BlackBerry’s suite of AI-enabled cybersecurity tools on a subscription-based model, saving time and resources for businesses with lean or non-existent in-house security teams.
“BlackBerry’s intelligent cybersecurity solutions and services can address the multi-layer needs of large companies and easy-to-manage cybersecurity for small and medium enterprises,” said Shane Mahney, Senior Sales Manager for emt Distribution, a rhipe company. “Partners like VARs, MSPs, MSSPs and SIs can grow their advanced cybersecurity businesses and services revenues, helping organisations save valuable time and resources.”
“As organisations grapple with heightened cyber threats against data, end-points and infrastructure, traditional signature-based solutions struggle to address the scale of vulnerabilities and severity of attacks,” said Richard Rundle, Group Executive, emt Distribution. “By expanding our offering with BlackBerry’s intelligent, AI-powered solutions and external security teams, we can further help customers of any size improve their security posture with a prevention-first approach.”
The news comes as fresh guidelines were issued by the Five Eyes Alliance, followed by joint principles from the Quad Cybersecurity Partnership, urging stronger cybersecurity measures for Managed Service Providers (MSPs) and their customers in the face of increasing threats. BlackBerry’s 2022 Threat Report showed that malicious cyber actors are increasingly employing ransomware-as-a-service (RaaS) and malware-as-a-service (MaaS) tools to execute high-impact attacks. While no organisation is immune to a cybersecurity breach, SMEs are facing upwards of 11 to 13 cyber-attacks per device per day – higher than larger enterprises.
Graeme Pyper, Director, Channel Partner and Alliances, APAC, BlackBerry adds, “We are excited to announce BlackBerry is expanding our distribution network in Australia and New Zealand with emt Distribution. By leveraging BlackBerry’s seventh generation AI engine and on-demand cybersecurity experts, organisations can both prevent threats and address IT security skills gaps – so they can get on with running their business.”
